The Barnala police have seized 15 quintals of poppy husk, filled in 75 bags, and arrested four persons in a case registered under Sections 15, 25, 29, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act at the Barnala city police station.

Sharing details on Sunday, Barnala SSP Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam said Inspector Kuldip Singh (CIA Staff, Barnala), along with other police officials, arrested the accused near the Barnala-Bathinda main road, and seized 75 bags of poppy husk, loaded in a truck and another mini-van. The accused were identified as Nirmal Singh, Beant Singh, Inderjit Singh and Harjinder Singh. However, the truck driver, Jagsir Singh, is yet to be arrested.

The SSP said the Barnala police had achieved major success under ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’ campaign, being run on the directions of the state government and the DGP of Punjab.
