The police have booked 16 persons for murdering Sahil Preet Singh, 17, who was shot near the District Courts Complex in Fazilka on Tuesday.

The accused have been identified as Babbu Sohi, alias Baljit Singh, Prit Pal Singh, Pallu, Sunny, Happy, Goldy, Prakash, Gurbhej Singh, Sajan Bajaj, alias Summy, Sahil, Billu and five unidentified persons.

Sahil’s father, Sukhwinder Singh said after attending a court hearing, their rivals rammed a vehicle into his son’s car. He said their rivals, who were accompanied by bike-borne miscreants, sprayed bullets on Sahil.

Demanding arrest of the accused, he said both groups were facing trial over previous enmity. The police have recovered two vehicles, three-sharp edged weapons, and two cartridges. The accused have been booked under the BNS and the Arms Act.
