The Excise Department in a joint operation with the police raided the premises of Manju Singla holding retail licence for Group 18 of Patiala city.

The authorities received a tip-off that Singla had stored unauthorised stock of liquor in his house located near the Lahori Gate vend. Excise Commissioner Rajat Agarwal said the team of the Special Operation Group of the Excise Department swung into action. During the search, it was found that three persons — Lalit Singla and Keshav Singla — relatives of Manju — and their partner Umesh Sharma, had stored as many as 2,718 cases of liquor. —
