While addressing a press conference, Mansa SSP Bhagirath Singh Meena said that after the incident in Mansa on October 28, all their teams had been working to trace the case using CCTV footage and technical analysis, and they were able to identify the accused.

Divulging more details, the SSP said that today, the Mansa City-1 team was patrolling when they received information that two persons were roaming with a weapon on the Chakerian-Barnala road. Acting on this input, the team nabbed the two accused — Gursahib Singh and Ramanpreet Kaur, both residents of Ropar — and recovered one weapon from them. Gursahib informed the police that they had another weapon hidden in bhikhi. When the team went with him to recover that weapon, it was found loaded, and it went off, prompting the police to return fire. In the exchange, Gursahib was injured.

The SSP added that the police have recovered a .32 bore pistol with one live cartridge and one empty shell, along with a .30 bore pistol, eight live cartridges, and five empty shells. The motorcycle used in the firing incident has also been recovered; it was stolen from Kharar in June 2025. He further said that the motive behind the firing will be revealed during interrogation.
