2 Bishnoi gang members arrested

The district police today claimed to have arrested two members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and seized three foreign-made pistols and 20 cartridges from their possession.

Muktsar SSP Akhil Chaudhary said the suspects were intercepted on the Ferozepur road on Friday. “During checking, a pistol and 10 live cartridges were seized from a youngster, while two pistols and 10 live cartridges and a cellphone were seized from the bag of another youngster,” said the SSP. He claimed that the seized weapons included an Austria-made 9 mm Glock pistol and China-made Px5, Px3 pistols.

Those arrested were identified as Avtar Singh (21), alias Labba Baba, and Ravi Kumar (25) of Muktsar town.

A case under the Arms Act has been registered at the Muktsar Sadar police station.

It was found during the investigation that they were in contact with Sachin Charewan, an associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the police said. Avtar Singh is already facing two cases, including one under the NDPS Act.
