Two brothers, residents of village Maujgarh, alleged that they were attacked and beaten on Abohar-Sriganganagar highway by some masked youths who robbed them of Rs 2.5 lakh. The brothers were admitted to the Civil Hospital here today.

The victims, Prem Kumar and his brother Ram Kumar, who were undergoing treatment, said that as their sister was to get married after a few days, they had got gold jewellery prepared from a goldsmith at Sriganganagar. Today, they were going on a bike to pay Rs 2.5 lakh to the goldsmith. On the way, three bike-borne masked youths came on a bike, stopped them and attacked them before taking away the cash. Suddenly, a passerby noticed them injured and informed the police and their family. Kallarkhera police team reached the spot and recorded their statements. DSP Arun Mundan said that the police have started investigation in the case.
