Two passengers were killed and 15 injured when a Punjab Roadways bus collided with a scrap-laden mini-truck near Tahliwala Bodla village on the Fazilka-Malout road on Wednesday evening.

One of the deceased has been identified as Sonu, a resident of Muktsar.

Fazilka Senior Medical Officer Dr Edison Eric said 15 persons had been admitted to the Civil Hospital. He said two seriously injured persons had been referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot. The bus was carrying about 35 passengers.

The injured have been identified as Shunty, Balwinder Kumar, Ranjit Kumar, Sheela, Som Lal, Sumit Kumar, Manish, Ferdous Ahmed, Punjab Singh, Rani, Altaf and Sanjay and some unidentified persons.

The collision was so fierce that it took an hour to extricate the trapped driver from the bus.
