Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that Vishal Singh, recently released on bail, was conspiring to eliminate a rival gang member. “In contact with his handlers abroad, he was awaiting instructions to carry out a high-profile crime in Punjab,” said Faridkot SSP Dr Pragya Jain.

Further investigations were underway to uncover the broader nexus and to establish backward and forward linkages. Both arrested suspects have criminal history with several cases already registered against them for various crimes.
