The Punjab Police on Thursday said they had arrested two operatives linked to international terror network after an encounter.

In a statement, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said following a tip off the police team arrested Robinjeet Singh and Harpreet Singh alias Happy, who were allegedly associated with USA-based Gurdev Singh alias Jaisal Chambhal and Canada-based terrorists Lakhbir alias Landa and Satnam Singh alias Satta Naushehra.

During the operation, the accused attempted to flee and attacked the police team, prompting officers to act in self-defence, the DGP said in a post on X.

Both suspects sustained injuries and were immediately admitted to the civil hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

Two grenades, a pistol and live cartridges were recovered from the accused. An FIR has been registered by Tarn Taran Police and further investigations are underway to uncover their network’s backward and forward linkages, the DGP added.
