20-year-old girl raped in Abohar village

A 20-year-old girl has reported a case of rape in a village in Abohar. The victim has also accused the suspect’s family of connivance. She has been admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

The victim said her father works as a labourer while she works as a domestic help in some homes. Four days ago, when she went to work in a house in the neighbourhood, a boy raped and tortured her. Due to cruelty, she fainted. After about an hour, when she regained consciousness, she came to her house and informed her parents of the ordeal.

The victim’s family said they complained to the village panchayat. The panchayat called both the factions and asked the boy's family to accept the girl as bride but the latter refused. According to the sarpanch, he tried for mutual settlement but the boy did not agree.

The Civil Hospital sources said a medical test of the girl has been conducted and a report was sent to the city police station. Police officials said the in-charge of the police station is investigating the matter.
