26 jail officials suspended for dereliction of duty in state

The Punjab Government on Saturday suspended 26 officers and employees of the Jail Department for the dereliction of duty.

Punjab Jails Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said they had been suspended with immediate effect under the Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970.

In a stern message to the officers and employees on duty in jails of Punjab, the minister said illegal activities, misbehaviour, indiscipline, absence from duty and activities like involvement with prisoners would not be tolerated.

Those suspended included Iqbal Singh Brar, Superintendent of Mansa District Jail; Maninder Pal Cheema, Deputy Superintendent, Ludhiana Central Jail; Anil Bhandari, Deputy Superintendent, Borstal Jail in Ludhiana; Sandeep Brar, Deputy Superintendent, Ludhiana Central Jail; and Yadvinder Singh, ASJ, Ferozepur Central Jail.

The minister asked the jail officials to perform their duties honestly.
