The Muktsar district police on Wednesday claimed to have seized a vehicle in which 27 quintal poppy husk was being transported from Jharkhand. Two persons were arrested in that connection.

Muktsar SSP Tushar Gupta said, “Two drug smugglers have been arrested, while efforts are on to nab their kingpin, who was to receive the consignment in Muktsar. These individuals had pasted an ‘On Army duty’ sticker on their vehicle to evade checking at police nakas,” he said.

“When our team intercepted the vehicle near Aulakh village, the occupants said they were carrying ration for the Army. During search, 90 bags containing 27 quintal poppy husk were found,” he added. Those arrested were: Maninder Singh of Danewala village and Akashdeep Singh of Gidderbaha town.
