3 additional judges appointed as permanent judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court

The Centre on Wednesday notified the appointment of three additional judges, including two women, as permanent judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium had approved their elevation in a meeting held on March 19.

The judges made permanent are Justice Sumeet Goel, Justice Sudeepti Sharma and Justice Kirti Singh. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal confirmed the appointments on X.

Justice Goel, who obtained his law degree from Delhi University, enrolled as an advocate in 1996 and was later designated as a Senior Advocate. He has appeared in criminal, constitutional, civil and arbitration matters before the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He served as the retainer counsel-cum-special public prosecutor for the CBI at the High Court and has also represented various government entities, including the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation and the Food Corporation of India.

Justice Sudeepti Sharma, a law graduate from HP University, Shimla, has been a member of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association since 1998 and also served as Law Officer for Punjab.

Justice Kirti Singh, an alumna of the Department of Laws, Panjab University, enrolled as an advocate in 1998. She was appointed Assistant Advocate-General in Punjab and Haryana before serving as Deputy Advocate-General. She was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in November 2023.
