Three youths of Gehlan village in Barnala district succumbed to injuries after the motorcycle they were travelling on collided with a tractor‑trolley at Boparai Kalan on the Raikot-Mullanpur highway late Saturday evening.

One of the victims, Parvinder Singh, succumbed to his injuries while lying in a field near the accident site, while the other two — identified as Amritpal Singh and Akashdeep Singh — died during treatment at a multispecialty hospital in Ludhiana on Sunday morning.

While the police have not yet determined the exact cause of the accident, initial investigations found that the dilapidated condition of the road, poor visibility and high speed were contributory factors.

Sudhar SHO Gurdip Singh said a case under Sections 304A, 279 and 427 of the IPC has been registered against the tractor driver, Satnam Singh of Khadoor village.

The victims were identified on the basis of a UID found in Parvinder Singh’s pocket. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post‑mortem to Civil Hospital Ludhiana.
