Ajay Kumar was also facing some cases of snatching and illegal possession of weapons in Fazilka and Kapurthala. Two cases of drug and weapon smuggling were already pending against Gurmeet Singh in Faridkot and Madhya Pradesh.

Last week, the police seized five pistols and some magazines that were kept in a briefcase. The weapons were left behind by some unidentified persons after the police tried to stop them while they were travelling in an e-rickshaw near Tehna village in Faridkot. On seeing the police, they ran away, leaving the briefcase at the Hitech checkpoint.

A drive was launched to arrest the accused after obtaining the CCTV footage. Gurmeet Singh was nabbed by the police. His questioning led to two more arrests.
