The district police claimed to have busted two gangs involved in drug peddling in the region.

In the first case, the police team intercepted a truck and seized 150 kg poppy husk from the possession of Gurtajinder Singh Pintu, a resident of Defence Colony in Nabha.

In the second incident, the police team confiscated 20, 280 habit forming tablets from Imran Khan Kaka and Mohammad Anish, both residents of Gattu Wala Khooh, Malerkotla district.

Senior Superintendent of Police Gagan Ajit Singh said the police teams had busted two gangs involved in drug trafficking in the region.

The police have registered separate cases under the NDPS Act at Amargarh and City 2 police station, Malerkotla. The SSP said, “We are trying to establish backward and forward links of the accused to nab their accomplices. More arrests are on the cards.”
