3 of family killed as car collides with pickup

Three of a family, including a father-son duo, died after their car hit a pickup vehicle head-on near the bus stand of Chak 15-A village here on the Bharatmala Project Highway on Saturday.

According to officials, the pickup driver Karni Singh and a boy were injured in the incident.

Police said the pickup vehicle was carrying vegetables while the deceased identified as Prabhu Ram Sokhal (40), his father Om Prakash (65) and Prabhu Ram's cousin Balbir (45), residents of Chak 3-E village in Sriganganagar, were going to express condolence over the demise of one of their relatives.

According to officials, Prabhu Ram was driving the car. It surfaced that the vehicles collided in an overtaking attempt. The front part of the car was completely damaged, they added.
