Punjab: 3 Vice-Chairpersons of Economic Policy and Planning Board get extension

The state government has extended the tenures of the three Vice-Chairpersons of the Economic Policy and Planning Board by three years. They include industrialists Rajinder Gupta, AS Mittal and chartered accountant Sunil Gupta.

They were appointed Vice-Chairpersons in 2022, within months of the Aam Aadmi Party government coming to power in the state. Though their tenure was to end in August, they have been given extension till August 2028. CM Bhagwant Mann is the Chairman of the board.

The role of the three Vice-Chairpersons is to assist the government in thrashing out all policies that have economic impact and help the government plan its resources better.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
