PM Narendra Modi today virtually dedicated a 300-bed satellite centre of the PGI, Chandigarh, near Ghabdan village, on the Sangrur-Patiala road, to the nation. The centre, spread over 25 acres, has been constructed at a cost of Rs 449 crore.

The foundation stone of the centre was laid on October 10, 2013 by the then Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Prominent among those present were Sangrur MP Simranjit Singh Mann, former Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla, former MLA Arvind Khanna, director of the PGI, Chandigarh, Dr Vivek Lal and Sangrur DC Jitendra Jorwal.

Dr Lal said this satellite centre would reduce the burden of the PGI, Chandigarh, as it would provide healthcare services to the people of this entire region in a big way.
