A total of 31 newly weds burnt an effigy of drug demon in Abohar on Monday.

Celebrity fashion designer Parul Bhatia administered oath to all couples and their parents to stay away from drugs and to create awareness against this menace in society.

The mass marriage took place at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Deep Singh.

Chief Sewadar Tejinder Pal Singh Timma said the marriage of 26 couples was organised as per Sikh customs and of five couples according to the customs of Hindu religion.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
