The police have arrested two engineers of the Border Roads Organisation’s General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) for selling government diesel and petrol at less expensive rate in the market.

The police seized 2,200-lt diesel and 20-lt petrol and Rs 1.5 lakh from them. The consignment that was uploaded at Sriganganagar was to be delivered to the GREF office in Fazilka but was illegally sold locally.

Superintendent of Police Rajan Dushyant said Linga Raju Nayak of Kupparavalli in Nanjangud Tehsil of Mysore in Karnataka and Vinod Kumar Kahar of Shyampuram Colonyin Kharagpur, Udham Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand), have been arrested.

Linga Raju works as an assistant engineer (civil), officer-in-charge (GREF) and Vinod Kahar as a junior engineer (civil) at the Military Station on Abohar Road. Both have been arrested for allegedly selling fuel at a hideout in the journalists’ colony behind district hospital.

A police team led by SHO Hanuman Ram Bishnoi raided the hideout and arrested Inderjit Bishnoi of Asinga Fatehabad (Haryana) and Jatinder Kumar of Dhangani Nechhwa Sikar, Murlidhar Sindhi and Hardeep Singh of Padampur.
