Nakodar, March 11

The Shahkot police arrested a person for allegedly peddling opium. The accused has been identified as Pavneet Singh, alias Jony.

SHO Surindar Kumar said 1 kg of opium was recovered from the accused, who is a resident of Dareshi road near Ved Mandir in Ludhiana.

The SHO said a case had been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The accused told the police that he had brought the contraband from Jharkhand to further supply it in Shahkot.

In another incident, the Mehat Pur police on Tuesday arrested two persons for allegedly selling intoxicant tablets and injections.

SHO Lakhbir Singh said the accused were identified as Aashish and Vikas, both residents of Baghela village. He said 80 intoxicant tablets, four injections and four vials were recovered from him. A case had been registered against the accused .

The Nakodar police yesterday held Kamal Kumar, a resident of Meva village, for peddling drugs. Over 60 intoxicant tablets were recovered from him. — OC
