Navjot, alias Jota, had also been arrested. In all, 17 cases have been registered against him at various police stations of Punjab.

Gurvinder Singh, alias Baba, has also been taken into custody.

“We also nabbed Lovely and Jugraj against whom cases of snatching have been registered,” Ghuman added.

The SSP said the police had laid their hands on Lovely on late Tuesday. “After interrogation, he spilled the beans and informed us about the whereabouts of the other four. I had constituted a special team, under the supervision of a SP-rank officer, after Lovely told us about the possible whereabouts of the accused. On Wednesday morning, we managed to round up the remaining four. All five used to operate as a gang to terrorise residents. A couple of car-snatching incidents reported from in and around the town in the last fortnight now stand solved,” he added.
