50% produce lifted from mandis, says Faridkot DC

To overcome paddy glut in mandis of Faridkot district, Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar on Wednesday held a special meeting with rice millers, truck operators and officials of purchasing agencies.

The DC said around 50 per cent of the produce had been lifted from mandis and the administration would leave no stone untured to speed up the procurement.

He added that the farmers would not face any difficulty or delay in sowing of wheat.

He said the lifting was a bit slow due to festive season. He instructed the procurement agencies to provide adequate labour in grain markets to accelerate the lifting process.

He directed the transporters and rice millers to pick up the purchased paddy from the allotted mandis as soon as possible.

The DC said 4,34,548 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy had arrived in the mandis so far. Of this, 4,06,501 MT had been procured by several agenices. He said a total of 2,05,673 MT paddy had been lifted till date.
