In a joint search operation, the police and BSF reportedly seized 501 gm of heroin from the fields of Bagicha Singh, a farmer of Dall village in the border area, on Thursday.

Preetinder Singh, DSP, Bhikhiwind, said a tip-off was received that some persons were searching for some objectionable item in the fields. The police rushed to the spot with a team from BSF 103 BN, Amarkot.

On seeing the security personnel, four persons fled. Two of them have been identified as Murti and his son Salwinder Singh, residents of the village.

The Khalra police have registered a case and conducted a joint search operation for more recovery, but nothing was found.

The police are conducting investigation to trace the accused. The DSP said the consignment had been smuggled from across the border with the help of a drone.
