The police arrested 57 alleged drug smugglers after conducting raids at 286 locations across the state on Sunday. It registered 42 FIRs during the day. With this, the total number of arrested drug smugglers has gone up to 26,023 during 169 days of the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign so far.

The police raids resulted in the seizure of 461 gm heroin, 415 intoxicating tablets and capsules besidess Rs 31,550 drug money.

Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla said the state government had enforced a three-pronged strategy — enforcement, deaddiction and prevention (EDP) — to eradicate drug menace from the state.
