Six-year-old Teghbir Singh has set the world record by scaling Mount Elbrus (18,510 ft) located in Russia. Hailing from Ropar, he started the expedition on June 20 and reached the peak on June 28.

Teghbir has received a certificate issued by the Mountaineering, Rock Climbing and Sports Tourism Federation of Kabardino, Balkarian Republic in Russia, acknowledging that he is “the world’s youngest summiteer on Mount Elbrus at the age of 6 years, 9 months and 4 days”.

Talking to The Tribune on phone, he said, “I reached the mountain peak and had a picture with my father there.” Teghbir’s father Sukhinderdeep Singh said, “Teghbir started preparing for this feat a year ago. He has been trained by coach Bikramjit Singh Ghuman.”

In August 2024, Teghbir became the youngest Asian to scale Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest Peak in Africa.
