Amritsar, December 21

The customs authorities have confiscated over 600 gm of gold from two passengers, including a woman, from Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport here today.

  • Dipak Kumar Gupta, Commissioner, Customs, said a woman, identified as Hari Jethmalani (66), had hidden the gold in ‘rubber form’ in her upper innerwear which was wrapped in a blue adhesive tape while Mayur Rohira (24) was hiding it in his rectum.

In a statement issued here, Dipak Kumar Gupta, Commissioner, Customs, said vigilant customs sleuths apprehended two Gujarati passengers, arriving from Dubai via a SpiceJet flight. During their frisking, the custom officials unearthed a new modus operandi of smuggling gold which was difficult to detect.

He said the woman, identified as Hari Jethmalani (66), had hidden gold in “rubber form” in her upper innerwear which was wrapped in a blue adhesive tape while Mayur Rohira (24) was hiding it in his rectum. The Customs Commissioner said a total of 664.36 gm of gold was recovered from them.
