The government has decided to rename seven government schools after freedom fighters and martyrs. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said Government Primary School, Chhana Gulab Singh, Barnala, has been renamed as Darbara Singh Government Primary School and Government Primary School, Jumla Malkan, has been renamed as Labh Singh Government Primary School.

He said Government Senior Secondary School, Barhe, will be called Sewa Singh Government Senior Secondary School and Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Budhlada, is renamed as Sham Singh Government Senior Secondary School (Boys).

Bains said Government (Girls) Senior Secondary School, Swaddi Kalan, Ludhiana, will be called Bir Singh Government (Girls) Senior Secondary School and the name of Government Primary School, Jhordan, has been changed to Shaheed ASI Gurmukh Singh Government Primary School.
