Challenging Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni’s claims that Punjab was better placed than Delhi in the health sector, AAP leader and Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain today visited a government dispensary at Surtapur village to ‘expose’ the poor health infrastructure in the state.

When Jain reached the dispensary, the renovation work was in progress and no staff member was present. He claimed he was scheduled to visit the dispensary in Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s constituency yesterday. His programme was leaked following which the dispensary was locked. Jain alleged the dispensary was locked to cover up the shortcomings in the health sector.

Ropar Civil Surgeon Paraminder Singh said due to a strike of health workers, there was shortage of staff at the Chamkaur Sahib hospital. So the dispensary staff was shifted to Chamkaur Sahib to run emergency services a few days ago and the renovation work had been started. — TNS
