The BJP has raised questions over the failure of the police to arrest miscreants involved in a firing incident that took place at Saidpur village in Nurpur, Ropar, last week.

Ajayvir Singh Lalpura, district president of the BJP, said despite the FIR being registered, no person had been arrested so far. He alleged the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had been protecting criminals and mafia.

He said those named in the FIR were allegedly involved in illegal mining during the rule of the previous government.

“These miscreants were highly active during the Congress tenure. Now, they are equally active under the AAP government. The FIR is just an eyewash. The real question is why hasn’t any action been taken yet,” said Ajayvir.
