A 37-year-old man reportedly shot himself with his licensed pistol in Bazidpur Bhoma village, 30km away from Abohar on Friday evening.

The deceased was identified as Sandeep Singh Brar.

People nearby immediately took him to the government hospital at Abohar where the doctors declared him dead. Police reached the spot upon being informed and started an investigation. The body was kept in the government hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Sources said that most members of his family lived abroad and he got divorced from his wife in 2016.
