A two-time former MP, four ex-legislators, former district Congress presidents and several other leaders from various political parties today joined the Punjab Lok Congress at a function held here.

The function was presided over by former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. Those who joined the party included former MP Amrik Singh Aliwal, ex-legislators Harjinder Singh Thekedar, Prem Mittal, Farzana Alam and Rajwinder Kaur Bhagike, former distirct Congress presidents Jagmohan Sharma and Satvir Singh Palli Jhikki also joined the party.

“Soon, several sitting and former legislators from the Congress, AAP and SAD will be joining PLC. We will soon be holding a similar function but on a large scale as several leaders will be joining us,” he claimed. Capt Amarinder warned policemen against intimidating his party workers at the behest of some local Congress leaders, saying he would take all necessary measures to come down heavily on such “hooligans in uniforms”. He was reacting to reports of cops stopping PLC workers who were putting up posters in the Malwa region. — TNS
