Traditionally, the main competition had been between the BJP and the Congress. This time, AAP has fielded Madan Lal Kharera, who had quit the BJP last year. The SAD has fielded Anil Kumar, a former councillor, and Monu Arya will contest on the Congress ticket.

MLA Sandeep Jakhar opened the election office of the party candidate Satish Siwan today. The MLA said each street in Arya Nagar spoke volumes of the excellent work done by the late councillor. Satish deserves support in recognition of his father’s valuable contribution. As the BJP was in power in the MC, Satish, if elected, could easily get further development done, the MLA said. Mayor Vimal Thatai was present on the occasion.

Thakur Dass Siwan had been the councillor for three consecutive terms, winning twice on the BJP ticket and once as the Congress nominee.
