Farmers in Gidderbaha on Tuesday lodged a symbolic protest by celebrating Holi with their blood in support of their demand for action against seed sellers. They alleged that seed sellers had sold them spurious seeds because of which their crop had failed.

Sukhdev Singh Bura Gujjar, chief, Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Sidhupur), Muktsar, said, “We have been staging a protest since March 4 in Gidderbaha, but not even a single officer had come to listen to our grievances. We had even blocked the Malout-Bathinda road recently.” He said cotton and paddy crops over 22 acres had failed because of spurious seeds. — TNS
