The Health Department has issued an advisory concerning the Human Meta Pneumo Virus (HMPV), urging the public not to panic. Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr Pawan Shagotra reassured that the virus is similar to the common cold, like the flu, and no cases have been reported in Punjab as of yet. However, the department remains on high alert for treatment.

The primary symptoms of HMPV include mild fever, runny nose, cough, sore throat and difficulty in breathing. These symptoms generally improve on their own within a week. Special care should be taken for children under five years old and elderly individuals above 60.

Dr Shagotra recommended consuming homemade nutritious food, including seasonal fruits, vegetables, and pulse. Additionally, individuals with flu-like symptoms should avoid crowded places, wear a mask, maintain distance from others, and wash hands frequently with soap.
