Nearly a year after she was booked in a corruption and NDPS case, a former SHO of the Moga police has surrendered in a court. She appeared in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur and was remanded in judicial custody till October 20.

According to the case, on October 1, 2024, then SHO of the Kot Ise Khan police station Inspector Arshpreet Kaur Grewal, along with constable Gurpreet Singh, allegedly seized 2 kg opium from Amarjit Singh and booked him under the NDPS Act.

Later, investigations revealed that two more accomplices of Amarjit Singh were also caught with 3 kg opium, but were allegedly released after a deal was struck for Rs 8 lakh. Of that amount, Rs 5 lakh was reportedly taken by the SHO and two constables Gurpreet Singh and Rajpal Singh. The police had registered a case under the anti-corruption and NDPS Acts against Arshpreet Kaur, two constables and drug peddlers Manpreet Singh and Gurpreet Singh. All accused officials were placed under suspension after which they went into hiding.

Despite repeated summons, Arshpreet failed to appear in the court. She was declared a proclaimed offender on July 31. Before going into hiding, she had taken to Facebook, alleging seniors implicated her in a false case after she resisted sexual harassment and refused a clean chit in a murder probe. District officials, however, said she did not file any formal complaint of harassment.
