In a significant development, irrigation water has finally reached 548 acres of Janasar village, located at the tail end of Fazilka district, after around four decades. This has happened following the laying of a pipeline and repair of water courses in Muktsar distributary.

The Janasar area was not getting the water supply as the level of the 4,300-foot-long stretch of the channel at Ramgarh Chuge village was 6-7 feet higher than the level of Janasar village. Moreover, the water channel was damaged at various places.

In the 4,300-foot-long stretch, a 500-mm diameter underground pipeline was laid and around 2,000 feet of the water channel was reconstructed. Following completion of this work, now 67836 TF (canal number) Muktsar is operational and after a long time 548 acres are getting the irrigation water.

This development work has brought smiles on the faces of farmers. The villagers said for the past many decades Janasar village was not getting irrigation water and groundwater here was unfit for irrigation, due to which the land was turning barren. Now, as irrigation water has reached here, farmers are pinning their hopes for better production.
