Ahead of bypoll, govt intensifies development push in Gidderbaha

The AAP government is on a foundation stone laying spree in Gidderbaha, where a byelection is set to take place soon. Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, along with Dharamkot MLA Devinderjeet Singh Laddi Dhos, laid foundation stones for the construction and repair of 23 link roads in seven villages, with projects totaling nearly Rs 18.57 crore.

Earlier, on September 6, the duo had laid foundation stones for development works worth about Rs 12 crore in 10 villages. Minister Arora stated that nearly 130 km of link roads would be constructed or repaired in the next one and a half months. He also promised that other pending works in the constituency would begin soon.

The event was attended by prominent AAP leaders from Gidderbaha, including Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon, Pritpal Sharma, and Sukhjinder Singh Kaoni. This byelection follows the recent election of three-time MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring as MP for Ludhiana.

In addition to infrastructure projects, the state government has posted five more doctors to the Gidderbaha civil hospital, which has been struggling with staffing shortages. The hospital recently received three emergency medical officers, one gynecologist, and one general medicine practitioner, along with an ophthalmologist who will visit twice a week.

Dr Rashmi Chawla, SMO of Gidderbaha Civil Hospital, confirmed the new appointments and stated that the doctors are yet to join, addressing some of the critical vacancies that have been affecting hospital operations.
