An aerial display by the Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team and the IAF’s Vintage Flight, as well as a performance by the Air Warriors Drill Team, marked the occasion. Many serving officers, dignitaries and veterans were present.

The Squadron was formed on December 18, 1959, at the Air Force Station, Halwara. It has operated Toofani, MiG-21 FL and MiG-29 fighter aircraft. The crest of the unit is a figure of a kneeling ‘Black Archer’ with a drawn bow, depicting poised readiness and its motto, “Karmani Vyapurutham Dhanuhu” implies “My bow is always stretched for its task”. — TNS
