Akal Takht Jathedar initiates gold plating at Fatehgarh Sahib gurdwara

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh on Tuesday paid a visit to Gurdwara Jyoti Swarup Sahib, where younger Sahibzada of Guru Gobind Singh were cremated to initiated the process plating the Gurdwara dome with gold.

After the ardas, the Jathedar said, “It was the costliest tract of land purchased by Diwan Todar Mal by covering it with standing gold coins for the cremation of Sahibzada.”

In a message to the Sikh Community, he called upon the Sangat to commemorate the “Shaheedi Fortnight” of the Sahibzadas with devotion but in a simple manner without any major celebrations. “The Sangat should come in plain clothes to participate in the functions of Shaheedi Sabha,” he added.

When asked about the memorandum submitted by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president and a member to excommunicate Narain Singh Chaura, who attempted to assasinate Sukhbir Badal, from the Sikh Panth, the Jathedar said the matter would be discussed dueing the clergy meeting. He also refused to answer any political query.

Shiromani Akali Dal leaders, SGPC members and Baba Bidhi Chand head Baba Avtar Singh were present on the occasion.
