Akal Takht urged to take over probe against Jathedar
A day after the SGPC constituted a sub-committee to probe the allegations levelled against Takht Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, the Dal Khalsa appealed to Akal Takht Jathedar Gaini Raghbir Singh to take over the probe from the SGPC and disband the three-member panel.
Dal Khalsa leader Kanwarpal Singh termed the move an act of witch-hunting. He said, “Ever since, five Sikh high priests directed the SAD to expel its senior leader Virsa Singh Valtoha from the party and chided Akali leadership from the Akal Takht podium (on December 2) stating that the present leadership had lost moral authority to run Akali affairs, removal of Gaini Harpreet Singh was imminent.”
