The Amritsar (City) police have booked Amritpal Singh Mehron, key conspirator in the killing of Ludhiana-based social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, alias Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, for threatening Amritsar-based social media influencer Deepika Luthra.

The case was registered by the cybercrime cell of the local police. Mehron had threatened Luthra and other social media influencers of dire consequence if they uploaded “double meaning” or vulgar content on social media platforms.

Luthra had approached the Police Commissioner, seeking security for her and her family. In a pointed message, Mehron had threatened Deepika Luthra that if she did not stop “double meaning” content, there were many parking lots and “it was not necessary that the body would be found every time”.

Luthra said she did not know why she was being repeatedly targeted.

Talking to the media yesterday, she said there were four videos over which Mehron had raised objections and they deleted those from her phone. She had stopped creating any content that could hurt anyone, she claimed.
