For the second time in the past two days, jailed Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh’s uncle, Harjit Singh, was brought to the AIIMS-Bathinda from the Central Jail, Bathinda, today. On Saturday, Harjit had refused to undergo treatment and was taken back to the jail. However, he was later diagnosed with a urinary infection.
He has been observing a fast for the past two weeks in the jail demanding normal “mulaqats” (meetings) with visitors like other inmates, a mattress and telephonic contact with his family in Canada.

His counsel, Advocate Harpal Singh Khara, said, “He is acute diabetic. However, he remains adamant and is refusing treatment until his demands are met.”
