The Amritsar district administration has issued a preliminary voters’ list for the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections in its 10 board constituencies.

It has asked people to file objections by January 24, which will be settled by February 5. The final list will be published by February 25.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Jyoti Bala said the 10 SGPC Board constituencies where the elections will take place include Baba Bakala, Verka, Amritsar City (East), Amritsar City Central, Amritsar West, Chogawan, Ajnala, Guru Ka Bagh, Jandiala and Matewal.

Only those aged 21 and above, and whose name already exists in the voters’ list, can file an objection.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
