A 51-year-old farmer, who actively participated in the protest at Singhu border, has died after brief illness at a private hospital in Moga on Wednesday, activists of Kirti Kisan Union said today.

The deceased farmer has been identified as Amrik Singh, a resident of Chota Ghar village. He was associated with the Kirti Kisan Union. The activists of the farm unions wrapped his body in the Kirti Kisan Union’s flag while paying last tributes to him. They termed Amrik Singh a ‘martyr’.

Unions have demanded from Rs 5-lakh compensation to the kin of the deceased farmer, a government job for one member of the family and waiver of his pending loans. — TNS
