Amritsar: Over 20 Sikhs scholars and educators from around the world have come together to create a mobile application to promote and educate people about the Mool Mantar. Singapore-based entrepreneur Ashvinder Kundan Singh is the brain behind SikhWiki.org, a wikipedia for Sikh information that draws over 10,000 daily visitors, and Turbanizer, a Sikh turban visualisation app. He was in the city to offer prayers at the Golden Temple, Kartarpur Sahib and Sultanpur Lodhi before launching the app. TNS

Naiwala protest enters Day 3

Barnala: The protest of Naiwala residents atop a water tank entered its third day on Thursday. They are demanding the rollback of transfer orders of a school teacher from their village and cancellation of an FIR registered against them for protesting against the issue. Protesters are alleging that government teacher Jatinder Singh was transferred to another village from their village school on December 14 without any valid reason. TNS

Liquor bottles seized

Abohar: The police on Thursday raided a house at Jojasar village in Hanumangarh and seized 1,212 bottles of Haryana made liquor. SHO Jagdish Karwasra said the consignment was packed in 101 boxes. Owner Mohinder Jat, however, managed to flee as cops in a convoy entered the village. He has been booked under the Excise Act. oc

Probe into wheat pilferage

Muktsar: After an alleged video of pilfering wheat from bags kept in a godown went viral on social media, the District Food and Civil Supplies controller on Thursday marked a probe in this regard. A security guard, who was recently dismissed from the service, alleged that the practice had been continuing for long. Till the filing of the report, the godown was not identified. TNS
