Mohali, June 11
The Special Operation Cell (SOC) of Punjab Police produced wanted terrorist and arms supplier Javed in the court of magistrate Amit Bakshi, Civil Judge (Junior Division), here on Thursday.
Javed has been remanded in police custody for five days i.e. till June 16.
The SOC pleaded before the judge that they had to establish from where Javed had procured arms and ammunition and his links with other terrorist groups. An SOC officer said they wanted to know more about his aides in Punjab and other states of the country and his connections overseas.
The SOC got his production warrant from the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), UP police, which had arrested Javed from Meerut on June 7.
Sources in the SOC said Javed was wanted in Punjab for his alleged involvement in the supply of arms and ammunition to Dharminder Singh, alias Gugni, a resident of Ludhiana and member of banned Khalistan Liberation Force. Gugni was involved in the murder of Brigadier Jagdish Kumar Gagneja (retd), a senior RSS office-bearer of Punjab.
Ashish, an accomplice of Javed, was nabbed earlier and the NIA is probing the case.
