Army jawan found dead in parked car, police initiate probe

The body of a 28-year-old Army jawan was found inside a parked car near the water tank of the sports stadium in village Khokhran, near Chamkaur Sahib. The deceased has been identified as Kuljit Singh, a resident of Fatehgarh Veeran village.

According to SHO Chamkaur Sahib Gurpreet Singh, they received a complaint about a Swift car lying unattended at the stadium grounds. On reaching the spot, the police found the body of Kuljit Singh on the driver’s seat.

Kuljit had joined the Army in 2017 and was currently posted in Kota, Rajasthan. He had returned home on leave about four to five days ago. His father and wife are serving police personnel and are currently posted in Jalandhar.

His father told the police that Kuljit had left home around 4 PM yesterday to buy clothes from Chamkaur Sahib, but did not return. The family searched for him throughout the night.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of death.
