Sessions Judge, Sangrur, RS Rai_, today stayed the conviction of Cabinet Minister Aman Arora in a criminal case. Besides, the Sessions Judge also fixed March 1 as next date of hearing for arguments on the main appeal.

Yogesh Gupta, Arora’s counsel, said that the latter’s conviction had been stayed till a decision on the main appeal is taken. On January 25, the Sessions Court had stayed the conviction of Arora till January 31 in this case. On an appeal filed by Arora for suspension of his sentence and stay of conviction, the Sessions Judge had suspended the jail sentence imposed on Arora by a Sunam court on December 21, 2023, till the final disposal of the appeal.

Arora’s conviction has been stayed in a case in which he (Arora) and eight others, including his mother Parmeshwari Devi, were convicted and sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for assaulting Rajinder Deepa, brother-in-law of Arora, in 2008.
